Nottingham City Council is once again offering residents a free real Christmas tree collection service.

The free service will collect and recycle real Christmas trees from Monday January 4 until Friday 15 January 2016 only.

The real tree will be shredded either on site or back at Eastcroft or Woolsthorpe Depot. The chippings get redistributed across nature areas and parks.

Cllr Nicola Heaton, Portfolio Holder for Community Services at Nottingham City Council, said: “We are encouraging residents to make this Christmas a greener Christmas by recycling their real Christmas trees by using our free collection service.

“Residents can also do simple things to be greener such as using ‘bags for life’ when shopping, by choosing food that is not massively pre-packaged and also by recycling as much waste as possible such as paper, cardboard, tins, cans and glass in their recycling bin.”

Residents can book a free collection by calling the Customer Contact Centre on 0115 9152000. Once a collection has a booked and a date provided, citizens must leave the tree out for collection before 7am at the edge of the property and as near to where the vehicle passes as possible.

Please note Nottingham City Council cannot collect any trees after January 15 so please book early to avoid disappointment.

Residents can also dispose of their Christmas tree at the Household Waste and Recycling Centre in Redfield Road, Lenton (near the Showcase Cinema).
