Get ready to prepare your CV and sharpen your interview technique; Nottingham Jobs Fair, the biggest jobs fair in the East Midlands, is back and it’s better than ever.

The fair which has been held in Nottingham for the past seven years is organised by Nottingham City Council in association with sponsor Imtech Engineering Services Ltd and delivered by partners Futures Employment Advice & Skills and the Department for Work and Pensions under the Nottingham Jobs brand.

This year’s event will be held at the Motorpoint Arena, Nottingham from 10am to 3pm on Wednesday 13th September and is expected to attract around a hundred employers, training providers and support agencies plus thousands of jobseekers over the course of the day.

Nottingham Jobs Fair brings together the wide range of employers which visitors will be expecting and will also feature a number of locally-based community groups who provide training and support.

The fair is aimed at people of all ages from across the city and areas local to Nottingham, whatever their previous experience has been in employment, training or education. For those who are nervous about finding work or who feel they might need additional support a dedicated “Advice Zone” is being set up this year where anybody can speak to advisers and take the time to get the right level of support they need to access training and employment.

Visitors to the fair will also be able to get help with things like job searches, CV writing and completing job applications as well as being able to benefit from talking directly to individual companies who they are interested in working for. This year visitors to the jobs fair this year will also be able to apply for jobs at the event itself and use areas which have been set up to give them the space and time they need to get the most out of the event.

Employers attending the event include Avon, Costa Coffee, Dixons Know How and DG Cars as well as others who represent the hospitality, retail, construction, security and care work sectors.

Councillor Leslie Ayoola, Executive Assistant for Business and Employment, Nottingham City Council said; “Nottingham is a city which is growing. As well as being good for Nottingham’s economy and attracting innovative new employers to the city, this growth brings with it real and varied opportunities for local people to find ways into work.

“Companies of all sizes in Nottingham are expanding and recruiting, so we’re pleased to be able to bring together events like this to give working age people in Nottingham the opportunity to develop the skills and ambition to find work.

“As in previous years, we expect Nottingham Jobs Fair to be a popular event which people will get a lot out of. It is also a really strong reminder of the commitment shown by Nottingham City Council and local employment and training partners to share their expertise and to work directly with people in the city to make sure they can really benefit from events like these.”

This year’s event has been sponsored by Nottingham based engineering firm Imtech Engineering Services Central: Colin Brunton, Regional Director, Imtech said; “As a Nottingham company with over a hundred-year history of delivering high quality mechanical and electrical services within building projects, we are delighted to sponsor the Nottingham Jobs fair.

“Imtech’s growth and expertise is built on a solid platform of training and developing employees internally. Working in communities to offer apprenticeships and recruiting locally is also an essential part of our success.”
