Congratulations to all runners who took part in the Ikano Robin Hood Marathon and Half Marathon!

11,000 runners took part, and many thousands of pounds were raised for charity.  The atmosphere along the route was fantastic with crowds of supporters cheering the runners on. Thank you to everyone who helped to make this a really successful event, including the many volunteers.

The race took a new route this year through the city centre in order to take in iconic landmarks like the Council House and Nottingham Castle.  In advance of the race, Sweatshop, the race organisers, and Nottingham City Council communicated information about the planned road closures as widely as possible through road signs across the city, messages on social media and the event website, and letters to some local residents and businesses on the route, in order to try and minimise travel disruption as far as possible.  We also ensured that many crossing points were in place across the route and that access to the QMC and other key services was maintained.

Inevitably, however, some people did experience delays to their journeys and inconvenience caused by the road closures.  We are reviewing the event and the traffic management that was in place, as well as the public feedback we’ve received on social media. Sweatshop and Nottingham City Council will use the learnings from this year’s race for planning for the future.  Thank you to everyone for your patience and support.
