Nottingham City Council will be carrying out works on Abbey Bridge roundabout, at the end of Castle Boulevard, starting on 24 July for a period of 8-9 weeks. Work will commence 7.30am-6pm Monday to Friday, 8am-6pm Saturday and 9am-3pm on Sundays.

The roundabout forms a key junction on the suggested diversion routes for works around the Broadmarsh area and so the decision has been taken to carry out these works now to ensure diversions during the Broadmarsh area redevelopment are not only kept clear, but run more smoothly than they did previously.

The full programme of works, timed to make the most out of quieter roads in the summer holidays, will add lanes to the Castle Boulevard entrance to the roundabout and add additional capacity on the roundabout itself to improve traffic flow. The will be achieved by reducing the size of the central island which will allow two lanes of traffic round the roundabout as opposed to the current one lane.

Works have been planned to cause minimal disruption to road users, and any impact on traffic flow will be monitored closely. Access for local residents and businesses will be maintained at all times. There will be a diversion for cyclists in place on the Western Cycle Corridor along Grove Road and Hoyland Avenue.
