People parking at Toton Park and Ride will now have access to eight new electric vehicle charging points.
Thanks to the Government’s Transforming Cities Fund, Nottingham City Council has installed eight 50kw rapid charge points, making it the largest rapid charging hub on the D2N2 network. The public charge points are located in dedicated electric vehicle (EV) charging bays and positioned strategically just off the A52. A solar canopy and battery storage have also been installed, providing a renewable energy source that can be stored and used when it is needed.
The Council is already a trailblazer with around 300 EV charging sockets in Nottingham thanks to the D2N2 network operated by BP Pulse, which was introduced in 2018. Nottingham ranks in the top 20% of local authorities for total EV charger numbers and number of rapid chargers.
You can have your say on Electric Vehicle (EV) charge points in Nottingham. The Council has launched a survey for both current and future EV drivers to hear your views on where new electric vehicle charging points should be located and to understand how you currently use charging infrastructure. You can complete the survey here.
Nottingham City Council’s Portfolio Holder for Highways, Transport and Planning, Councillor Angela Kandola, said: “We want to support people to make more sustainable transport choices and giving people more opportunity to charge electric vehicles is a step in the right direction. We hope that this will encourage more people to travel electric in our city to help reduce harmful vehicle emissions and improve air quality.
“We are committed to making EV charging accessible to all, whether for commuters, visitors or residents.”
