Nottingham City Council is very excited to be partnering up with the Google Digital Garage bus tour which will make its next stop on Station Street, Nottingham on 16 and 17 November.

The Digital Garage is a place where anyone can come and learn how to harness the power of the internet to grow their business, learn more about the internet, or develop new vocational skills. The Google Digital Garage bus offers free face-to-face digital skills coaching for everyone plus courses on everything from how to build a CV to developing an effective social media strategy.

The Google Digital Garage project is part of Google’s commitment to provide free digital skills training to everyone across the UK. In the last two years Google has provided free digital training to thousands of people of all ages, helping them to become more confident online or learn the skills they need to find work and take the next step in their careers. The Google team have also given local entrepreneurs the support they need to start their own businesses.

Nottingham City Council expect that a good number of local people will be able benefit from visiting the Google Digital Garage during its two days in Nottingham. As well as the immediate benefit of individual, face to face support provided by the Google team aboard the bus, the Google Digital Garage will contribute to long-term benefits for Nottingham; supporting more employers to raise the visibility of digital career pathways within schools and raising the profile and interest in digital apprenticeships and jobs.

Councillor Leslie Ayoola, Executive Assistant for Business and Employment at Nottingham City Council said; “Nottingham City Council is ambitious about Nottingham’s potential as it continues to evolve as a centre for digital skills and the home of choice for high value and high growth businesses which use and develop digital technology.
