The new play area will open at Torvill Drive Park in Wollaton on Monday 15 April between 2-4pm.
To celebrate, Nottingham’s Parks and Open Spaces team is staging a family fun day with face painting, bouncy castle, arts and crafts, drumming workshops and street games. All the activity is free and everybody is invited.
The play area has been funded with a £50,000 grant from landfill tax funder WREN. This was match funded by Nottingham City Council through Section 106 monies received through planning applications and area capital.
It was felt the existing play area on Torvill Drive was becoming old and tired. There was a public consultation last summer on what the residents would like to see where they were also involved in making the final decision on the scheme they most wanted, choosing from a final three.
The improvements include swings, climbing units, slides, a roundabout, a seesaw, and a balance trail. Each of these will sit on a new rubberised safety surface.
