More than 100 new council homes are set to be built across two sites in Nottingham as the latest phase of Nottingham City Council (NCC) and Nottingham City Homes’ (NCH) Building a Better Nottingham council housing programme breaks ground.
The £9.9 million scheme, being delivered by community regeneration specialist Keepmoat, will include 48 new homes in Cranwell Road, Strelley, and 54 new properties across four sites in The Meadows.
Both sites have been undergoing demolition work over the past few months, as former council properties unfit for purpose were removed to make way for the brand new family homes, flats and bungalows.
The Meadows development is set to be the first social housing project in the UK to be built using building information modelling (BIM) technology – an innovative process that involves the creation of digital 3D models to minimise issues and maximise efficiencies.
The sites will include:
– The Meadows – four individual sites will accommodate 45 new family homes and nine bungalows
– Cranwell Road, Strelley – one site will include 25 family homes, 11 bungalows and 12 flats.
Both sites will help create energy efficient homes, ensuring future generations of tenants live in warmer, modern, more secure homes, with lower energy bills and comfortable living space.

“These large sites in The Meadows and Strelley will make a huge difference to the surrounding community, providing families and individuals with sustainable, warm, secure and modern homes, as well as dramatically improving the street scene.”
The new homes will be let to people on the Nottingham Homelink housing register, which has strict criteria to ensure council housing is let to families with a strong local connection to Nottingham.

“This massive initiative, which is creating homes that are sustainable, energy efficient, secure and modern and to a very good standard, is not only helping to transform communities, but is making a huge difference to the city as a whole, while also providing construction jobs and training opportunities for local people too.”
Partner contractor, Keepmoat, is in the final stages of completion on the Palmer Court development in Lenton, which is closely followed by the building of a further 87 family homes and bungalows on the same site. This year the company celebrates ten years of working with Nottingham City Homes.
