The Leader of Nottingham City Council has responded to the tragic incident in Nottingham city centre yesterday (Monday 12 October) in which a 20-year-old man lost his life.
Police have named the man as Keany Kristal Kissingou-Mabiala who died from injuries sustained in an attack on Milton Street at around 1.15pm. A 17-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of murder minutes after the incident while on Monday evening, a 19-year-old man was also arrested on suspicion of murder as part of detectives’ enquiries.
City Council Leader, Councillor David Mellen, said: “It’s a tragedy that someone has lost their life in such a senseless, violent way. Our thoughts are with Keany’s family and friends and what they must they must be going through.
“Sadly knife crime continues to be a major issue right across the country. As a city, Nottingham has been working hard to tackle knife crime and this has been having an impact but incidents such as this demonstrate there is more we need to do.”
