As the summer holidays get underway, Nottingham Castle is gearing up for its activities to help families enjoy a summer of fun with lots of Robin Hood and Medieval adventures on your doorstep!
Already over 20,000 people have come through the gates and visited the historic site since it reopened just a month ago and have discovered the great range of interesting things to see and do.
Visitors are encouraged to make the most of the £12 pay once visit all year round, as part of yet more great value from the newly opened Nottingham Castle. With Kids Go Free for 15 years & under (three per paying adult, accompanying children), it makes for a great value family day out at a popular heritage attraction on your doorstep.
The activities and events for the Nottinghamshire summer holidays include:
- Hood’s Hideout adventure playground in the dry moat
- Robin Hood Adventures and Rebellion Galleries with interactive experiences
- Hoodwinked Trail
- A special Windrush temporary exhibition
- Plus a range of collections on display
- The newly reinvigorated Brewhouse Yard museum showcasing life of Nottingham through the ages from the 1500s to 1900s.
Among these activities and events and included in the Pay Once, Visit All Year Round ticket, visitors can also enjoy:
- New visitor centre and café
- Interpretative signage around the grounds to discover the site of the lost medieval castle
- Redesigned galleries displaying local history, art and crafts.
The Castle will also be hosting a programme of Open Air Theatre including David Walliams’ Bad Dad for younger children and MacHamLear for older children & adults (Adult: £18, Child: £11). Plus there is also the option to experience a cave tour of Mortimer’s Hole, which is available at £5 per person.

We hope people will come back again and again over the summer, whether it’s to immerse themselves in the fascinating galleries, descend into the amazing caves beneath the castle, or simply stroll around the beautiful grounds and take in the stunning views over the city.”
