Helping others this Christmas
For many of us, Christmas is a time of celebration, warmth, and fun with friends and family. But for others, it can be a time of hardship and struggle.
This year, with the COVID 19 pandemic, it has been even more difficult for many of our residents which is why coming together to support others is even more important this Christmas.
We have made a list of charitable causes across Nottingham if you are in a position to donate – no matter how big or small.
Nottingham City Council’s Lord Mayor Charity:
The Lord Mayor of Nottingham, Councillor Rosemary Healy, is supporting the Dolly Parton Imagination library during her Term of Office.
The Dolly Parton Imagination Library is a book giving scheme for children aged 0-5. The charity helps parents and children to enjoy exploring books together, looking at the pictures, talking about the stories and just having fun. This scheme is proven to improve a child’s literacy skill which promotes school readiness and a better outcome through their school journey.

Charitable Organisations
There are many charitable organisations working to support and prevent homelessness in Nottingham. Click this link to find out more about the charities by visiting the website: https://streetsupport.net/
Local Food Banks:
Local food banks provide a valuable resource for people and families that need a bit of extra support. A simple food box can prevent struggle, mental health issues and even the breakdown of families. They also mean many children don’t go to school on an empty stomach or go to sleep hungry.

1% Matters
In 2015 David Ryley, a successful businessman from Nottingham, decided to start a fund with 1% of his profits to support local charities in Nottingham. The 1% Matters Fund provides small grants to local projects who are helping young people, the elderly, those with Alzheimer’s or Dementia, vulnerable people or those suffering mental health issues.
