Keen gardeners, amateur growers and those who just enjoy looking at beautiful things will want to snap up their tickets for Nottingham City Council’s first East Midlands Flower Show, which will be held on 25 and 26 June 2016 in the picturesque grounds of historic Newstead Abbey.
Tickets are now on sale for this new event, which looks set to become a highlight in the horticultural calendar, at an early bird price of £8 plus booking fee online at www.eastmidlandsflowershow.org.uk or by calling 0115 989 5555. This price is available until 10 June, after which it will be £10 plus booking fee. Children under 16 will be admitted free.
Visitors can look forward to beautiful show gardens and being inspired by designs from local nurseries, horticultural colleges and landscapers. There will also be a home and garden marquee with displays and opportunities to buy seasonal plants, gifts, garden furniture and some great local food and drink.
There will be a programme of expert talks, designed to help people get the most out of their garden whether it is well-established, a sunny courtyard area or even a small balcony. The full programme will be announced nearer the event but currently includes Nick Hamilton from Barnsdale Gardens, John Stirland from BBC Radio Nottingham, garden historian Philip E Jones, Jordan Cox from BBC’s The Great British Bake Off and Johnny Pusztai from butcher JT Beedham.
Councillor Dave Trimble, Portfolio Holder for Leisure and Culture, said: “We are proud to be holding this event for the first time at Newstead Abbey and look forward to welcoming lots of visitors and exhibitors. The innovative exhibits will enhance the already wonderful displays in the abbey grounds that will be fantastic at this time of year. We hope to inspire and encourage lots more gardeners and growers and give them a great day out along the way.”
