Nottingham City Council is supporting Adoption East Midlands (AEM) with the first Midlands Adoption Week.  The week runs from Monday 12 until Sunday 19 February 2024. It will highlight the need for adoption and will dispel some of the misconceptions about adoption. The week will focus on the needs of children who have been waiting the longest to find an adoptive family

AEM is the combined adoption agency for the cities of Nottingham and Derby and the counties of Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire.

There is a variety of support available for people interested in adopting. AEM advisers can answer any queries people interested in adoption may have.

Councillor Cheryl Barnard, Portfolio Holder for Children, Young People and Education, said
“Adoption East Midlands is a good example of neighbouring authorities working together to find permanent homes for vulnerable children. The first Midlands Adoption Week will help to focus attention on the need for adoptive parents. We have many children who need adoption and I encourage people to come forward and find out about the positive rewards of adoption for individuals and the children.”
