To celebrate the savings drivers can make by switching to an electric car, Go Ultra Low will be sending a suitcase containing £750 in cash for a spin around Nottingham on Thursday 21 July in a Renault ZOE. The challenge to locals who want to win the money is to guess its final destination.
Go Ultra Low, a campaign backed by the Government and the automotive industry, will be unveiling a series of clues on its Facebook and Twitter feeds between 11:00am and 1:00pm on 21 July, allowing the most eagle-eyed of Nottingham residents to work out where the car and its precious cargo will be heading.
Once guessed correctly, entrants are being asked to head down to the mystery location to be in with a chance of winning. To seal the deal, the first person to arrive and snap a selfie with the parked car will be able to claim the £750 cash prize.
Go Ultra Low’s #FollowTheSuitcase competition is being backed by Nottingham City Council, which secured funding at the start of 2016 to become one of the UK’s first Go Ultra Low Cities, enabling the implementation of a wide range of initiatives to increase the uptake of electric vehicles.
Councillor Nick McDonald, Nottingham City Council’s Portfolio Holder for Business, Growth and Transport said: “We are committed to working with local partners, industry, and Government to implement measures to get more electric cars on Nottingham’s roads. Bringing this competition to the city is a great way to increase awareness of the financial savings that can be achieved by driving electric vehicles.”
Poppy Welch, Head of the Go Ultra Low campaign, said: “Electric cars are high performance, fun, exciting and financially compelling. Our #FollowTheSuitcase competition provides the perfect vehicle for helping to drive awareness of these benefits. Those who aren’t lucky enough to win on the day could still save £750 a year by switching to an electric car.”
