The judges have met and the winners have been picked – now is the time to get your tickets to the award show of the year.
Young Creative Awards 2016 give young people the chance to show off their creative work, network with future employers and gain valuable industry experience and mentoring.
The theme this year is “Goals and Dreams”. Young people, aged 13 to 24 who live, study or work in Nottingham were encouraged to let their imaginations flow and to enter pieces of work that reflect their aspirations for themselves and Nottingham.
The Nottingham Playhouse will be hosting the free awards night on Wednesday 18 May, giving entrants from the 10 different categories the chance to be acknowledged for their work and win cash prizes, as well as placements within the creative industry.
The evening starts at 5pm with entertainment, music and dance from some of this year’s hopefuls. Young creatives have the opportunity to display their work in an exhibition at the Playhouse, which guests will be able to view before the actual ceremony begins at 6:15pm.
Nigel Cooke, Chair of the Young Creative Awards, said: “The awards are all about inspiring, supporting and encouraging creativity in the young people of Nottingham.
“Young people this year have creatively entered submissions that represent their goals and dreams. On the 18th May, at the Playhouse, these young creatives will get to showcase their dreams and one exceptional hopeful will be crowned Nottingham Young Creative of the Year”
The awards were introduced in 2009 to encourage and inspire young creative talent in Nottingham and to help young people take the next step in developing their potential.
The categories include: Architecture and Design, Animation and Digital Media, Creative Writing, Dance, Fashion and Textiles, Film, Graphic Design, Music, Photography and Visual Arts.
Tickets are free and people can get them from Nottingham Playhouse box office on 0115 941 9419 or visit the website – https://www.nottinghamplayhouse.co.uk/whats-on/spoken-word/young-creative-awards-2016/
