Over 40,000 local people are expected to join in with Nottingham’s annual Bonfire Night celebration, which takes place every year on 5 November at the Forest Recreation Ground. Spectators are expected to take advantage of the free event, provided by Nottingham City Council and Mellors Group.
The event will offer something for everyone with a funfair, children’s fireworks display, and main fireworks display to commemorate the anniversary of Guy Fawkes foiled gunpowder plot.
Councillor Dave Trimble, Portfolio Holder for Leisure and Culture at Nottingham City Council, said: “Nottingham City Council is proud to provide this incredibly popular free event to celebrate Bonfire Night. We hope everyone has a brilliant and safe evening.”
Nottingham Express Transit has put on extra trams to cope with the demand as people travel to The Forest from around Nottingham and Nottinghamshire.
Stephanie Moss-Pearce, Assistant Marketing Manager at NET, explained: “With fairground rides and firework displays, this year’s Bonfire Night celebrations look set to be as spectacular as ever, but with no parking at the Forest the best way to enjoy them is to travel there by tram.”
