Nottingham’s world famous Goose Fair will return to the Forest Recreation Ground from Wednesday 5 October – Sunday 9 October.
The fair will officially be opened on Thursday 6 October at 12noon, by Robin Hood and the Lord Mayor, Councillor Mohammed Saghir.
Goose Fair is one of the most famous travelling fairs in Europe, with 720 years of history dating back to the middle ages. The Fair has gone ahead almost every year since, with brief interruptions when plague broke out, and again during the two world wars.
Over 500 attractions, rides and games will travel to the Forest Recreation Ground for the fair, including classic favourites like the waltzers, carousels and Hook-a-Duck, plus the famous Cake Walk and gallopers. Big returning attractions for 2016 include the Log Flume, Reflex SuperSpin, and the Bomber Mach 5.
A licensed entertainment venue added in 2015 – the Moose Bar, will again be at the fair, with a covered seating area and a small beer garden. A selection of premium lagers, ales and wine will be available, as well as soft drinks. People will not be able to drink outside the licensed area.
Visitors to the fair can also take advantage of cash machine facilities which will again be available on site – situated at the tram stop entrance and the Gregory Boulevard entrance.
Travelling to the fair is easy and convenient, with NET putting on extra trams for visitors.
Stephanie Moss-Pearce, NET’s Assistant Marketing Manager, said: “During the day, trams will operate as usual from every seven minutes and there will be extra trams running at least every ten minutes after 9pm to make sure everyone can get home quickly.”

Nottingham City Transport will also put on very frequent bus services for visitors between the city centre and the Forest Recreation Ground, as well as buses from the Queen’s Drive Park and Ride. Visitors can travel to the fair for just £5 per car load.

Goose Fair saw amazing visitor numbers of over 420,000 in 2015, thanks in part to the weather. I’m hoping for great weather this week too, especially with the return of the Log Flume to the fair!”
