Nottingham Jobs is launching a new campaign to help unemployed people across the city with job searches, applications and interviews.

The Nottingham Jobs Two Week Challenge is a series of bite size video and daily email updates which will provide job hunters with tips and advice to boost their confidence and give them the best possible start when searching and applying for jobs.

Cllr Neghat Khan, Portfolio Holder for Employment at Nottingham City Council, said: “We know that people will be worried at the moment as many companies suffering from the effects of COVID-19 are having to make people redundant.

“Whatever your age and circumstances, whether you have recently lost your job, are new to the job market or are looking to get back into employment after a break, this campaign has something for everyone.

“Nottingham Jobs is a fantastic service which works extremely hard to support people and employers in the city, whether it’s through jobs and training, apprenticeships or supporting with recruitment. This is just another example of how they are making it easier for people to find support at a time when they need it the most.”

The campaign will provide people with tips, advice and the motivation to keep going and stay positive. It’s really easy to sign up to, all people need to do is visit www.nottinghamjobs.com/twoweekchallenge

What people can expect over the course of the challenge

The Nottingham Jobs Two Week Challenge will provide people with a variety of tips and advice including how to:

  • Get into the right mind-set
  • Create a network of contacts
  • Write a good CV
  • Prepare for interviews
  • Find out about vacancies
  • Sell yourself to potential employers.

People who sign up will receive an email from Nottingham Jobs every day for two weeks. People can sign up at any time between now and Christmas – a time when many employers will be increasing their workforce to meet demand – to receive the tips and advice exclusively from the Nottingham Jobs Team.

The emails will also contain a bite-sized video which will introduce three top tips, selected by two Nottingham residents, Charm and Gary, who’ve been through many job searches and applications themselves.

Gary is the Operations Director at Evolve in Broxtowe – a not for profit community interest company providing community based responsive projects, and Charm is a Zumba instructor from Arnold and works across the whole of Nottingham City including at Evole.

Charm and Gary have both succeeded in their job search and will provide people with their own personal advice on how it’s worked for them.
