Olympic medallist Rebecca Adlington, Disney, the Amateur Swimming Association and Nottingham City Council have joined forces to encourage children to ‘Just keep moving’ this summer with interactive family swim sessions inspired by the new Disney•Pixar blockbuster, Finding Dory.
The swimming sessions, during the school summer holidays, with toys, storytelling and special activities, will take place at least once a week at all seven council pools until Sunday 4 September. Trained session leaders will use a range of Finding Dory-inspired activities, based on core aquatic skills and storytelling, to take children on an exciting journey with Dory and friends. The first 100 children at each leisure centre to attend three of these sessions will get a free Finding Dory swimming bag and there will be a photographic competition with Finding Dory prizes.
Campaign ambassador Becky Adlington said: “Since I stopped competitive swimming a few years ago, I understand how tricky it can be to fit exercise into a busy routine – and also make it fun. As a mum, it’s even harder. But I’m passionate about inspiring the future generation to get active and that’s why I’m supporting this summer’s campaign from Nottingham City Council, Disney and the ASA. The summer holidays can seem really long, but what better way to spend time together than enjoying a family swim session where you’re learning key skills?”
Councillor Dave Trimble, Portfolio Holder for Leisure and Culture, said: “These Finding Dory-inspired swim sessions are a great way to keep children busy during the summer holidays and help the whole family get fitter. We expect them to be very popular as they will be great fun, there are prizes up for grabs and they won’t cost any more than the usual swim session, so I would advise families to book in advance.”

We hope to inspire a summer of activity and provide parents with a great way to entertain their children and to ensure they ‘Just keep moving!’”
