Active Nottingham is leading the way in Nottingham, by being one of the first gym providers to offer a Himalayan Salt Room experience as part of their health and fitness offer.

The spa room at Clifton Leisure Centre, officially opened this week with an opening evening took place on Tuesday evening.

The redevelopment at the centre is part of Nottingham City Council’s ongoing commitment to offer a high quality health and fitness experience to residents either through a Flexible Fitness monthly membership or as a pay and play customer.

The calming and detoxifying effects of using a salt room can support the immune, nervous and lymphatic systems, reduce stress and headaches, increase energy and aid sleep.

Salt ions also purify the air and can increase lung capacity and reduce the effects of flu and allergy seasons too.

Councillor Dave Trimble, Portfolio Holder for Leisure and Culture at Nottingham City Council, said: “The health and wellbeing of our residents is really important to us which is why we’re continuing to invest in our leisure centre facilities. It’s also particularly exciting for us to be one of the first to offer salt therapy in Nottingham.”

The works carried out included removal of the old spa pool and new Himalayan Salt Room, complementing the existing sauna and steam provision alongside the newly-installed tropical monsoon showers.  The health suite has also undergone cosmetic changes including white rock to the walls, new showers and refurbishment of the toilets and new lounge furniture.
