Nottingham City Council announced today that it has been awarded £18.202 million of government funding to deliver warmer, more energy-efficient homes, reduce carbon emissions and fuel bills, tackle fuel poverty, and support green jobs.
The funding, allocated by the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero under the Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund (SHDF) Wave 3 scheme, covers the period to the end of March 2028 and is part of a consortium bid of £151 million awarded to the Midlands Net Zero Hub (MNZH).
The Wave 3 funding will drive retrofit measures to improve building fabric, decarbonise heating systems and see more renewable energy installed in almost 2,500 council homes across the city.
Councillor Jay Hayes, Executive Member for Housing and Planning, said, “This funding improves the quality of council housing in the city and reduces energy bills for our tenants.
“It has also been developed to stimulate the supply chain and promote Nottingham’s green economy and create local jobs.
“All of this directly supports our Council Plan and Nottingham’s ambition to become carbon neutral city.”
