Coach services are to start operating from the new Broad Marsh bus station from next week, it can be announced.
National Express have finished fitting out their customer service centre inside the new building and are ready to move their services from the temporary location on Station Street into the modern facility on Canal Street on Tuesday 14 June.
Passengers will benefit from significantly improved facilities at the new bus station, including:
- A 24/7 facility to cater for 24/7 bus and coach services
- Light and airy waiting areas separated from bus stops by glass walls and sliding doors
- Plenty of seating
- State of the art passenger information screens, including travel and wayfinding information
- Customer toilets
- National Express customer service office for information, help and tickets
- 24/7 security services
- Easily accessible pedestrian entrances on Carrington Street and Middle Hill connecting to rejuvenated pedestrian-friendly areas.

The bus station is on the ground floor below the new Broad Marsh car park, with its 1,200 spaces including charging points for electric cars and disabled parking, easy contactless payments at the barriers and a smart traffic light system to help find a space. The whole building is powered by 720 solar panels on the roof. The building will also house the new Central Library, with work due to get underway to fit it out next month. Trent Barton are working towards running services from the bus station later this year.
City Council Leader, Cllr David Mellen, said: “This fantastic new bus station is a far cry from the old one which was an unwelcoming place to start or finish your journey. For visitors coming to Nottingham with National Express, it’s the first place they see and this bright, modern facility gives a much better impression of our city.
“It’s an impression that continues with the great new pedestrian friendly areas surrounding the building, and the facilities inside are first-class. I’m delighted that National Express are starting to run services from the new bus station next week, meaning it becomes an important transport hub connecting Nottingham to destinations across the UK. It’s another great step forward for the huge improvements we’re undertaking in this part of the city.”

National Express operates over 400 services a week from Nottingham Broadmarsh Bus Station with popular routes including London Victoria, Birmingham, Cardiff, Edinburgh and Glasgow, and frequent airport services to London Heathrow and London Luton.
