Leicester has been welcomed to an exclusive club of footballing ‘miracle cities’ by East Midlands neighbour and fellow miracle FC (football city) member, Nottingham.
The Leader of Nottingham City Council, Coun Jon Collins, has sent his congratulations on Leicester Football’s Club’s stunning success to Mayor of Leicester Sir Peter Soulsby – along with a copy of the film I Believe in Miracles charting Nottingham Forest’s European Cup success under manager Brian Clough.
Councillor Collins said: “I am pleased to offer my congratulations to the many which I’m sure you’ve already received on the amazing, but deserved success for Leicester City Football Club in winning the 2015/16 premiership. It’s great that the English footballing elite has been shaken up, that team spirit rather than the chequebook alone has triumphed, and that Leicester City was the team to do it.
“Welcome to the small and exclusive club of Cities with football clubs that have achieved “miracles”. Here’shoping for more “miracles” for Nottingham Forest, Notts County and Leicester City Football Clubs next year.”
