The Fund appeals to the people of Nottingham to harness the spirit of Robin Hood and support those most at need in our city during unprecedented times – Nottingham City Council, Nottingham Post, LeftLion and stakeholders across the city have given full backing to the campaign.
The Robin Hood Fund has launched today (Friday 20th March) in a bid to raise much needed funds for the vulnerable and those most at need in Nottingham during this unprecedented period.

As the threat of the Covid-19 crisis continues to grow the entire city faces a period of vulnerability, anxiety and economic uncertainty. For many people in Nottingham that will include basics like not knowing where their next meal will come from.
The Robin Hood Fund has launched in the spirit of the legendary Robin Hood and in a bid to harness the cooperative spirit that is growing in this time of crisis. It will act as a focal point to coordinate financial support in one place and is appealing to the people of Nottingham to help support those most at need in their own community and wider city by donating whatever they can afford.
The new initiative is backed in full by Nottingham City Council who over the coming week will appoint a group of civic leaders from across Nottingham to work through the administration that will ensure those that require help during this time receive it.
Greg Nugent, Chair of the Nottingham Board for Culture and Creativity, said: “We are all starting to understand the harsh reality of what is a totally unprecedented situation and everyone is feeling scared and anxious about the future. But for some people in Nottingham this is about surviving day to day and not knowing where their next meal is coming from. As a
generous, resilient and creative city, we need to act in support of those among us who need it most.
“The Robin Hood Fund is an opportunity for everyone across Nottingham to help. It’s a very difficult time for us all but we will become stronger by coming together. Even the smallest donation will make a huge difference to those in need.”
Councillor Rebecca Langton, Portfolio Holder for Communities, said: “This is a worrying time for all of us but I’ve been heartened to see people pulling together over the past few days. We have been overwhelmed by offers of support and by good will from local people.
“It’s going to be so important that we help each other in the coming weeks and we want to make sure people can do this safely, making sure help gets where it is most needed. That’s why we’re launching The Robin Hood Fund to help coordinate financial support in one place. “I’d like to thank everyone who has helped out already – from checking on a neighbour to shopping for others. The Robin Hood Fund will offer an opportunity for those who are willing to support their communities financially. We will make sure that all money raised gets to the people and places who need it most.”
The Robin Hood Fund is asking that even during these tough times for everyone, people donate and contribute to the common good in Nottingham with even the smallest contribution potentially making a big difference to those in need. It is also asking people to help share the message as wide as possible via social media, The Robin Hood Fund can be found on the following platforms:
