Nottingham’s summer ParkLives programme is now underway, with residents able to take advantage of free and fun sessions taking place across the city.
The June and July programme includes 16 fun and informal activities, with everything from lakeside yoga and health walks, to bowls, family tennis and a ‘Couch to 5K’ running club.
A number of new early evening sessions will help local people make the most of the long summer days, including archery, kayaking, Pilates, paddleboard yoga, Boxercise, rounders and ‘Get into Golf’ beginners’ sessions.
ParkLives, a programme from Coca-Cola Great Britain in partnership with Nottingham City Council, offers free activity sessions in parks and green spaces. Sessions are either an hour or an hour and a half long, and are led by a trained instructor from the local area. View the full timetable and book online at www.parklives.com
The new timetable will run through to the end of July, with activities available in 10 parks including:
- Forest Recreation Ground
- Colwick Country Park
- Wollaton Park
- Victoria Embankment Park
- Highfields Park
Nottingham City Council’s Portfolio Holder for Leisure and Culture, Councillor Dave Trimble said: “There’s so much going on in June and July to keep everybody active whatever their ability, from gentle walks to 5km jogs, and from bowls to boxercise. Now is the time for Nottingham people to make the most of the long summer days by getting out there and joining in the activities in their local park.”
ParkLives launched in 2014 and is part of a £20 million commitment by Coca-Cola Great Britain to invest in community-based projects that help people be active. The programme now runs in ten cities across the UK including Birmingham, Dundee, Glasgow, Manchester, Newcastle, Nottingham, Newham (London), Swansea, Southampton and Stoke-On-Trent.
A full timetable – including a postcode-led local park finder – can be found at www.parklives.com where people can register to book a free activity session for themselves, as well as friends and family.
