Nottingham City Council has published details of changes to essential services over the Christmas and New Year period, including changes to bin collections, housing services, customer support, leisure facilities and cemeteries.
Residents are advised to check opening times and service arrangements in advance of travelling or booking services.
Bin collections and recycling:
Bin collection days will change over the festive period. Households can check their revised collection dates using the council’s online tool, Check My Bin Collection Day.
The city’s recycling centre will be open throughout the holiday season, with the exception of Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day. Opening hours during December and January are 8am to 4pm.

Customer services:
Residents who need to contact the council can call 0115 915 5555 or visit one of the city’s contact centres. Details of locations and opening times are available online.
Housing services:
Non-emergency repairs can be reported until 5pm on Wednesday 24 December by calling 0115 915 2222. From Thursday 25 December to Sunday 28 December, only emergency repairs will be handled.
Between Monday 29 December and Wednesday 31 December, emergency repairs and some priority repairs will be carried out, although waiting times may be longer due to reduced staffing. On New Year’s Day, the 24-hour emergency repairs service will operate as usual. Normal repairs services resume at 8.30am on Friday 2 January.

Rent payments and enquiries
Rent payments can be made at any time online or via the council’s automated phone service. Make your payment online.
Rent enquiries will be handled until 5pm on Wednesday 24 December, then from Monday 29 December to Wednesday 31 December, before normal services resume on Friday 2 January.

Cemeteries and crematoriums:
Southern, Northern and Highwood cemeteries will remain open 24 hours a day throughout the holiday period.
Cemetery offices will be open by appointment only from 9am to 3pm and will be closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.
Historic sites will operate in line with published website schedules, with Rock Cemetery open from 10am to 2pm. The Book of Remembrance will remain available between 9am and 3pm, with a digital version also accessible online.

Events and venues:
Final opening times for Nottingham’s Winter Wonderland attractions, including the observation wheel, ice skating and markets, are available online.
The Theatre Royal and Royal Concert Hall box office will operate reduced hours over the festive period before returning to normal opening times on Friday 2 January. Details are available online.
