Nottingham has been chosen as one of just eight pilot areas in England to deliver a major new Government initiative that will transform support for young people across the city.

The new Young Futures Hub, part of the Government’s National Youth Strategy announced today, will bring together youth workers and a range of specialist professionals to give young people access to holistic support. This includes help with wellbeing, education and employment pathways, and early intervention to prevent harm and exploitation.

Being chosen as one of the first pilot areas highlights the city’s commitment to working together for better outcomes for children and young people. The Hub offers a major opportunity to enhance and modernise how support is delivered across Nottingham.

The Government has committed £70 million nationally through a local transformation programme to develop 50 Young Futures Hubs by March 2029. Nottingham will be among the first eight hubs to be operational by March 2026, alongside Birmingham, Leeds, Manchester, County Durham, Bristol, Tower Hamlets, and Brighton and Hove.

The Young Futures Hub model aims to tackle issues such as youth isolation, vulnerability, and lack of access to opportunities by creating a single, safe and trusted place where young people can get the help they need at the right time.

Cllr Cheryl Barnard, Portfolio Holder for Children, Young People and Education, said: “This is a really important opportunity for Nottingham. Being chosen as one of the first areas to develop a Young Futures Hub will allow us to strengthen support for young people in a way that is connected, accessible and shaped around their needs.

This investment will help us make a real difference – creating a safe space, trusted relationships and clear pathways to opportunities. Working with our partners, we want to ensure every young person in Nottingham has the chance to thrive.”

The Council is already engaging young people across the city to help shape the new hub through a youth survey and targeted workshops. It will continue to work with children and young people, Government, local partners, and voluntary sector organisations to design and implement the Nottingham Young Futures Hub, with further details to be shared in early 2026.
