Nottingham City Councils Safer Housing Team has successfully secured a prosecution against a landlord, Faith Gakanje- Ajala for failing to licence a House of Multiple Occupation (HMO) under the citywide Additional Licensing Scheme. Faith Gakanje-Ajala was found guilty in her absence, and the District Judge agreed the offence was proven and considered the aggravating factors the Council presented. The judge ordered as follows:
Fine: £7,500
Victim Surcharge: £3,000
The Council’s Costs: £1037.50
Totalling: £11,537.50
