Nottingham City Council is proud to announce that Paul Seddon, Strategic Director of Planning & Transport, has been recognised in the King’s Birthday Honours for his outstanding contribution to planning and place leadership – recieving an MBE for services to Town Planning.

Paul has dedicated over 30 years to public service across local councils in the Northwest and East Midlands, including over two decades in senior leadership roles. As Nottingham City Council’s Chief Planner, he has led a highly respected and award‑winning Planning Department.

Under Paul’s leadership, planning has played a central role in the council’s ambitious programme of development and regeneration. This work has and continues to transform Nottingham, unlock investment, create jobs and deliver new homes, while ensuring high-quality, sustainable places for residents and businesses.

Most recently, he has supported the council in launching its bold City Vision, bringing partners together to shape the future of Nottingham.

A chartered town planner and recognised place-making, regeneration and heritage specialist, Paul has also made a significant contribution nationally through his work with the Planning Officers Society, where he is a Past President.  He currently also chairs the Core Cities Chief Planners’ group.

Paul’s honour recognises both his long-standing contribution to the planning profession and his commitment to delivering positive change for Nottingham and beyond.

He said:
