Nottingham City Libraries is pleased to announce that a temporarily mobile library service will begin visiting Sherwood from Saturday 13 December, ensuring residents can continue to enjoy library services while we await the opening of the brand-new Sherwood Library in 2026.
The mobile library will be available on Saturday’s from 10am to 1pm at Woodthorpe Grange Park. Please see the libraries website for its timetable and stops throughout December and the New Year.
This temporary solution reflects the Council’s commitment to keeping library provision available locally. Recent engagement exercises and updates have highlighted how strongly the Sherwood community values its library services and access to books, and this new offer aims to bridge the gap until the new facility opens next year.
The Mobile Library vehicle will be at the site on Saturday 6 December for a logistics test run only – it will not be open to the public.

Councillor Neghat Khan, Leader of Nottingham City Council, said: “Sherwood has been waiting a long time for its new library, and we understand the frustration felt by many as the wait for a new library has taken longer than expected. Thank you for your patience as we work to deliver the modern, accessible library the community deserves. In the meantime, this temporary mobile library means people can still enjoy access to books which was identified as being important in the most recent survey. Delivering the new Sherwood Library remains a key priority, and we are on track for opening in Spring 2026.”
We will be sharing regular progress updates with residents as the new library moves closer to completion. Residents are encouraged to make use of the mobile service at Woodthorpe Grange Park and continue accessing the city’s wider library network.
