The Leader of Nottingham City Council has congratulated Notts Outlaws after they became T20 Blast Champions for the second time in three years.
Ben Duckett was the hero for Notts after his unbeaten 53 saw his side chase down Surrey’s 127-7 in a match reduced to 16 overs. They previously lifted the trophy in 2017.
Notts looked in real trouble after losing opener Alex Hales to the first ball of their innings but Duckett smashed 53 off 38 balls and, with support from Dan Christian – who also took 4-23 earlier – saw the Outlaws home.
Councillor David Mellen, pictured, said: “Congratulations to our brilliant Notts Outlaws in winning the T20 championship again.
“It was a skilful and tenacious performance that lit up the competition and we can all be very proud of this fantastic victory. It’s yet another great achievement in Nottingham’s sporting history.
“I’m sure we all hope that next year they can return to do it all again, but this time with the Trent Bridge faithful there in full voice – giving the players that fantastic vocal support we know so well.”
