New photography and art competitions are being launched to celebrate the beautiful green landscapes and corners of Nottingham.   Keen young artists, along with photographers of all ages, are invited to take inspiration from the city’s abundance of parks, gardens, local landmarks, flowers, trees and nature through the seasons.

The ‘My Beautiful Nottingham’ art and photography competitions are being run by Nottingham in Bloom and sponsored by Capital One.

Entries are welcome from young people who live, go to school or are members of community groups in Nottingham.  The photo competition also includes a category for adults who live or work in the city. Pictures representing any season of the year are welcome.

Stuart Mather, Community Relations Manager for Capital One, said: “Nottingham is a beautiful green city with some iconic parks and open spaces.  There’s also plenty of greenery to admire in the city centre – from street trees to traffic islands and seasonal floral displays.   We also hope that people will be inspired to look afresh at an aspect of nature in their own neighbourhood – perhaps in their garden, or a local landmark they pass every day.

“Capital One staff are looking forward to the difficult but exciting task of helping to choose the winners and discovering new aspects of Nottingham’s thriving green landscape.”

Councillor Malcolm Wood, Chair of the Nottingham in Bloom Working Group, said: “Thank you to Capital One for supporting these new competitions, which give an opportunity for people to champion aspects of their local green spaces and neighbourhoods.   Wherever you live in Nottingham you’re never far from nature.  About 20% of Nottingham is green and open space so there’s fantastic potential to capture excellent images and create outstanding art.

“Our competitions always attract some stunning entries from local schools and I hope the children will enjoy using their creative talents to showcase the neighbourhood in which they live.”

For an entry form, visit www.nottinghaminbloom.co.uk or call Nottingham in Bloom on 0115 915 2733.  The closing date is Friday May 13th.  The winners will receive gift vouchers.
