The Davis Cup by BNP Paribas will be arriving at Nottingham Tennis Centre this Saturday (30 July) during the British Open Wheelchair Tennis Championships. The World’s top wheelchair tennis players will be battling it out including Wimbledon Champions Gordon Reid, Alfie Hewett and Jordanne Whiley. Alongside watching world class tennis, and to celebrate a summer of tennis success, the Tennis Centre is opening up its facilities free!
Nottingham Tennis Centre is running a free programme of exercise classes between 9am and 3pm. No need to book, just come to the Tennis centre reception. There is also free access to the state of the art fitness facilities and health suite. The classes for the day can be found at www.nottinghamcity.gov.uk/ntc
Those who fancy getting involved in playing tennis can book a tennis experience. These are running at either 12 or 2pm. Book a place by emailing charlie.pick@nottinghamcity.gov.uk or calling 07930 732624. If you can’t make these sessions but still want to try playing then Charlie will try to fit you in on another date.
These sessions are running alongside the Tennis Foundation’s British Open Super Series with plenty to keep the whole family entertained. Kids and adults are encouraged to come down, find a free court and pick up a racket. There are fully licensed coaches on hand to help you hit your first shots, or hone your backhand.
Councillor Dave Trimble – Portfolio Holder for Leisure and Culture, Nottingham City Council said: “Come down to Nottingham Tennis Centre and take the opportunity to enjoy the British Open Wheelchair Championships while having a chance to play tennis for free and to use the fitness facilities. We have a wonderful facility at Nottingham Tennis Centre and it’s important to use events like these to inspire the people to get involved in sport at all levels.”
