This week marked the final Love Your Streets Day of Action of the year, concluding six months of targeted activity across Nottingham.
The Days of Action have focused on locations where extra support is needed, from cleansing and graffiti removal to rough sleeper outreach, illegal street-trading checks and taxi-licensing compliance.
This week’s operation once again demonstrated strong partnership work between teams across Nottingham City Council, Nottinghamshire Police, It’s in Nottingham, Park Plaza Hotel, Bromley House Library and colleagues from Nottingham City Transport and NET.
Across the day, more than 100 issues and cases were tackled, supported or resolved.
Locations covered on this team collaboration were Chapel Bar, Angel Row, Bromley Place and Hurts Yard.
Activity included 19 trade waste compliance checks, over 30 pieces of graffiti removed or painted over, dozens of fly posters and stickers removed from street furniture and litter picking across all areas.
The day also saw jet washing of pavements by the Cleansing Team, support offered to rough sleepers, three £100 Fixed Penalty Notices issued for littering offences, Police patrols in the area, checking e-bikes which were all found to be legal, taxi-licensing compliance checks which identified two vehicles with defects, NET ticket checks, and Nottingham City Transport staff engaging with passengers.
The Days of Action form part of the wider Love Your Streets programme, contributing to ongoing work to keep Nottingham’s streets clean, safe and welcoming.
Cllr Corall Jenkins, Executive Member for Communities, Waste and Equalities, said: “Our teams are out every day supporting residents, businesses and visitors to our city, but Days of Action show what we can achieve when teams and partners unite with a shared purpose. Whether its supporting vulnerable residents, improving street cleanliness, ensuring businesses meet safety standards or reassuring the public through visible policing, this work makes a genuine and immediate difference. I’m proud of the dedication shown by everyone involved.”
Following the Day of Action, It’s in Nottingham and Nottingham City Council Neighbourhood Engagement Officers spoke with more than 20 local businesses and will be arranging a meeting to discuss any issues they are experiencing in the area.
More Love Your Streets activity and patrols are expected to continue into 2026.
