East Midlands teenager Katie Boulter is among four Brits in action on the first day of the Aegon Open Nottingham as qualifying for the WTA International event starts on Saturday, 4 June.
Boulter 19, takes on Renata Voracova of the Czech Republic – ranked 361 places above her in the world – while Tara Moore is up against Zhaoxuan Yang of China.
Eden Silva of Essex, handed a wild card into qualifying, takes on Canada’s Gabriela Dabrowski and Lisa Whybourn has a first up meeting with Yuxuan Zhang.
Elsewhere in qualifying, former Aegon International Eastbourne title winner Tamira Paszek is second seed in qualifying and, like top seed Kai-Lin Zhang, has a bye into the second round.
Play starts at 11:00 am and is free for spectators.
The Aegon Open Nottingham will see two tournaments take place in June, with the women’s WTA event being staged from 4-12 June 2016. Both tournaments will be an integral part of the British grass-court season, which features 11 international grass-court tournaments in eight venues across the country.
