A home-grown rising star and newly crowned French Open champion are among those serving up the action on the opening day of qualifying at the Aegon Open Nottingham on Saturday, 10 June.

Nottingham’s own Freya Christie, 19, is second up on Centre Court against Czech third seed Tereza Martincova, in what will be a testing opening round for the local favourite as she looks to return to the main draw of her home event.

The day at the Nottingham Tennis Centre starts with some tantalizing action as Gabriela Dabrowski, fresh from becoming the first Canadian woman to win a Grand Slam after teaming up with Rohan Bopanna to win the mixed-doubles crown at the French Open, taking on Kristie Ahn of the USA.

Over on centre court, British wild card Laura Diegman gets the action started with her match against Australia’s Destanee Aiava.

There will be even more for the local fans to look forward to as the third of the British wild cards, 21-year-old Eden Silva, takes on Deniz Khazaniuk.

In a change to the line-up in Nottingham, Leicestershire’s Katie Boulter has not taken her wild card after a change to her pre-Wimbledon plans.

Saturday’s qualifying in Nottingham is to also include men’s ATP 150K Challenger Tour action, which will see Marcus Willis and James Ward feature.

Qualifying weekend at the Aegon Open Nottingham will have a family fun atmosphere to it as children under the age of 16 are given free entry and adults charged just £5. There will even be a superhero costume theme to the festivities.

The full daily schedule of matches will be available the night before via the Tournament website www.aegonopennottingham.com and via Twitter on @Britishtennis.

Tickets to the Aegon Open Nottingham are now on general sale via the LTA website.
