The City Council’s award winning Museums and Galleries volunteer programme is looking to recruit a team of enthusiastic, friendly faces for the following roles:

Dinosaur Rangers: This involves supporting Hunter the animatronic Sinraptor dinosaur on public appearances around the city and beyond in the build-up and during the exhibition! The role will include assisting the operator of the dinosaur and giving out information about the exhibition. Hunter has already visited the intu Victoria Centre, Nottingham Panthers, and Notts County Football club and has many other exciting visits and events lined up including 20/20 cricket at Trent Bridge, the Riverside Festival, and Splendour scheduled. These events are in the lead up to and during the exhibition dates

Visitor Service Assistants: Welcoming visitors, answering enquiries and providing information about the exhibition, site and facilities. We’ll train you so well that you’ll know all there is to know about the exhibition.

Family Activities Assistants: Welcoming families to the Explorer Zone, encouraging families to take part in a variety of free family friendly activities.

You can read more about the role at the Dinosaurs of China website

Events are already scheduled and will continue to the exhibition close on October 29. Length of engagements will vary but are usually 2-3 hour slots.

Most of the opportunities are on Nottingham museum sites, but there will be some travel to city and county locations and a few dates in the east Midlands. Transport will be provided and travel expenses paid for.

Cllr Dave Trimble, Portfolio Holder for Leisure and Culture said: “I’ve spent some time with Hunter the Sinraptor and had a fantastic time watching him meet people at events round the city. The reaction to him is amazing and people are really excited about this stunning exhibition coming to the city. Whether you have lots of time to spare or just a few hours, I would encourage you to find out more and to get involved. Don’t miss this great chance to be part of our world-exclusive and to build new skills, meeting and working with some great people.”

Karen Lushey – Volunteer Programme Coordinator said: “This is a wonderful personal and professional development opportunity. You will get to spend a lot of time at Wollaton Hall; a spectacular Elizabethan mansion, or choose to travel round the Midlands with Hunter; and you can be part of our friendly team, indulge your love of history and be involved in a once in a lifetime exhibition.”

Dinosaurs of China, Ground Shakers to Feathered Flyers is a one-time only world exclusive exhibition of dinosaurs coming to Europe for the first time. Wollaton Hall, Nottingham, will host the main exhibition, with a complementary exhibition at Lakeside Arts, running from 1 July – 29 October 2017. Featuring fossils and specimens never before seen outside of Asia, Dinosaurs of China will bring to life the story of how dinosaurs evolved into the birds that live alongside us today.
