The Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) is recruiting volunteers for this summer’s Aegon Open Nottingham tennis tournaments. This is a great chance to get involved in two major events in the city.
Those keen to apply should visit the LTA website as soon as possible as applications close on 21 February with spots rapidly filling.
The Aegon Open Nottingham comprises two tournaments, starting with the women’s WTA International, running from 4 to 12 June, and the men’s ATP World Tour 250 event, staged between 18 and 25 June – the week before The Championships, Wimbledon.
More than 100 volunteers from across Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, the East Midlands and United Kingdom helped make the 2015 WTA International event and ATP World Tour 250 tournament a success, with the last three days of competition sold out.
Organisers are looking for a similar number of volunteers to be part of the team at the Nottingham Tennis Centre for this year’s two world-class events. Volunteers will receive training in range of duties, play a key role in delivering an outstanding customer experience and have the opportunity to see some of tennis’ biggest names up close.
Rebecca James, the Aegon Open Nottingham (WTA) Tournament Director, said: “Last year the army of volunteers that gave their time for both the WTA and ATP events helped make the Aegon Open Nottingham the success they were. The buzz of excitement around the two tournaments came from those people who helped spectators enjoy the two weeks of captivating tennis as well as making the players feel at home in Nottingham. The passion and enthusiasm which volunteers showed last year is what we are looking for again.”
Nottingham City Councillor Dave Trimble, Portfolio Holder for Leisure and Culture, said: “This is a great opportunity to be part of another major sporting event in Nottingham – England’s Official Home of Sport. Volunteers are a valuable part of our workforce. We are really grateful to people that give up their time to help put on these wonderful world-class events that showcase the sport, and also the city. Volunteering is one of the best ways to gain experience and skills while enjoying yourself too. I would urge people not to delay and to get their applications in.”
