The extended Household Support Fund (HSF) scheme, announced by the Government in September, is to launch in Nottingham from 10am on Monday 4 November 2024.
From this date vulnerable residents in Nottingham will be able to apply for support such as Energy Support and Supermarket Vouchers. Vouchers will have a monthly application limit with a new batch of vouchers opened at the start of each month from November to March 2025, subject to availability.
The following support will be available by application to vulnerable households:
- Energy Support Vouchers – 2 x £49 PayPoint Vouchers.
- Supermarket Vouchers – 1 x £75 Supermarket Voucher.
- Free School Meals Vouchers – for October, Christmas and February holiday periods.
- Food Funding for Food Banks and other support projects across the city.
This is the sixth round of funding and will be given out to people across the city to ease the pressure of increasing costs over the coming months. Previously the grant has been used towards a package of help and advice for Nottingham resident households who receive Council Tax Support.
Councillor Cheryl Barnard, Executive Member for Children, Young People and Education at Nottingham City Council, said: “During the cost-of-living crisis the support provided by the Council, charities and through schemes such as HSF has been a lifeline to many, and the announcement of the extension of the Household Support Fund until April 2025 was welcome news for struggling households across the city.
“I’m proud of the help the Council has been able to deliver to those most in need over these last few years with things such as food and energy bills, and that this support will continue to be available for residents to apply for throughout the difficult winter months.
“Households struggling financially should look on the Council’s HSF webpage to find out what support they may be eligible for and apply for it as soon as possible, as these are limited on a first come, first served basis. Our website also provides plenty of further advice and avenues for support for those who may need it.”
