Cleaner streets, safer neighbourhoods and more support for families are at the heart of the updated Council Delivery Plan setting out how Nottingham City Council will deliver on its commitments to residents.

Approved by Executive Board on Tuesday 20 October, the refreshed 2026/27 delivery plan reflects £7.6 million in ongoing annual funding and £20.4 million in one-off resources previously allocated to additional services.

It turns the ambitions of Our Council Plan 2025–29 into practical action, incorporating the investment already announced, eight commitments previously put on hold and additional work to improve services.

The plan includes increased litter picking and street cleaning, free bulky waste collection, free school holiday swimming, increased welfare advice, and support to tackle anti-social behaviour and retail crime.

It also includes work on potholes, street signs and greener public spaces, alongside grants to help young people leaving care access education, employment and training.

Councillor Neghat Khan, Leader of Nottingham City Council, said: “Building Back Nottingham means making improvements that residents can see and feel in their everyday lives, from cleaner streets to more support for families and neighbourhoods.

“We’ve made significant progress in managing the Council’s finances, allowing us to invest more in the services our residents rely on. This updated delivery plan reflects the investment we’ve already announced and sets out what we have committed to deliver and how we will measure progress.

“Our Council Plan sets the direction for what we want to achieve. Our focus now is on delivering these commitments and making sure this investment brings lasting benefits for Nottingham.”

Our Council Plan 2025–29 is built around three core missions: a renewed council, delivering for local people and leading Nottingham forward.

The annual delivery plan sets out the actions supporting those missions and provides the basis for monitoring performance. Progress will be reported publicly to Executive Board every quarter.
