Nottingham City Council has been able to provide additional support to over 10,000 households in Nottingham this winter through the release of an extra £1m in food Supermarket vouchers via the Government’s Household Support Fund (HSF).
Applications for the additional 10,000 vouchers, each worth £100, were opened for a week at the beginning of December, with residents who had already received a voucher from the HSF scheme since April 2025 also eligible to apply.
Just over 10,000 applications for the vouchers were made in total, with the Council adding some additional funding in order to be able to provide a voucher to all applicants who qualify.
Approximately 2,000 vouchers have now been processed ahead of Christmas, with the remainder of the vouchers to be distributed to households in January.
The next round of applications for the Energy Support Vouchers will open on Monday 5 January 2026 at 10am, with a new date in February 2026 still to be confirmed for when applications for Supermarket Vouchers will be reopened.
Councillor Helen Kalsi, Executive Member for Adults Social Care and Health at the Council, said: “I’m delighted that we have been able to provide much needed additional support this winter to our most vulnerable residents in Nottingham, and that no one eligible who has applied will miss out on these vouchers.
“These vouchers will help to ease the financial burden for households at a time of year when costs are typically higher, especially as many are still grappling with the increased cost of living we have seen over the last several years.
“For households that are continuing to struggle financially, our website and the AskLion website also provides plenty of further advice and avenues for support that may be available, including through other schemes and organisations.”
All Supermarket Vouchers Codes issued must be redeemed within 4 weeks or they will expire and not be re-issued – Information on how to redeem your Supermarket Voucher is available here
