Councillor Neghat Khan, Leader of Nottingham City Council, has issued the following statement regarding concerns about Marilyn Manson’s scheduled performance at the Motorpoint Arena:
“There is no place in our society for misogynistic behaviour and through the strength of our partnerships in the city, we continue to work towards the elimination of domestic abuse and violence against women and girls.
“I do not think Marilyn Manson should be performing in our city, however, because of the arrangements with the Motorpoint Arena, we don’t have any input in the decisions that are made around the programming of acts. I have met with the Motorpoint operators to express my concerns.
“I don’t believe this individual reflects our values and the work we are doing in Nottingham which targets negative behaviours.
“I have written to the Home Secretary to seek a review the suitability of the individual from entering the country, given the seriousness of the allegations made.”
We will continue to stand alongside partners and communities in Nottingham to challenge harmful behaviours and promote safety, respect and equality across the city.
