Following the success of last month’s day of action in Hockley, the next Love Your City Centre initiative will take place on Thursday 17 July, this time focusing on the Broadmarsh area.
Led by the Council and supported by a wide range of partners, the campaign aims to improve the city centre through visible enforcement, targeted environmental action, business engagement, and community support. It forms part of the Council’s wider ambition to create a safer, cleaner, and more welcoming city centre for everyone.
Planned activity includes:
- Litter picks and a deep clean of the area
- Graffiti removal
- Engagement with businesses, citizens, and rough sleepers
- Tackling low-level antisocial behaviour
- Addressing begging, drug-related issues and other criminal activity
- Ticket inspections by NET
- Business compliance and licensing checks
- Environmental enforcement, including e-bike and e-scooter activity
Partners involved include Nottingham City Council departments, It’s in Nottingham, Nottinghamshire Police, NET, Safer City Partnership, Framework, and partners from the voluntary and community sector.
Councillor Linda Woodings, Executive Member for Regional Development, Growth and Transport, said: “This is the next step in our continued commitment to improving Nottingham’s city centre for everyone who lives, works, studies and visits here. The first day of action in Hockley was a great success and now we’re taking that same partnership approach to the Broadmarsh area.
“Our teams will be out across the area all day, offering support to those who need it, listening to residents and businesses, and taking firm action where required. It’s about making sure the city centre is a place people are proud of – clean, safe, and inclusive.”
Councillor Corall Jenkins, Executive Member for Neighbourhoods, Waste and Equalities, said: “We’re proud to be leading another day of action that brings together services from across the city to show real care for our shared public spaces. I want to say a huge thank you to all our hardworking teams and partners who make this possible. Whether it’s removing graffiti, tackling antisocial behaviour, or supporting vulnerable people – this is all about creating a city centre that’s clean, safe, and thriving.”
Activity will begin from early morning and run into the evening, including both high-visibility patrols and engagement, as well as behind-the-scenes enforcement and outreach.
This is the second in a series of Love Your City Centre days of action, with more planned throughout the summer and beyond. The campaign is designed to become a long-term, embedded part of how Nottingham works to improve and protect its public spaces. Keep an eye out for future dates in different areas across the city as the campaign continues to grow.
