A new plant shop at the Nottingham City Council nursery at Woodthorpe Park will open its doors on Saturday. Christmas trees, plants and gifts will be on sale from 28 November until 23 December – with special offers for the opening weekend.

The nursery is the hub of the award-winning Nottingham in Bloom campaign, growing half a million plants each year for the city’s displays and playing a vital role in Nottingham’s entry into the East Midlands in Bloom competition.  It also grows plants for a number of neighbouring local authorities and others further afield.

Councillor Dave Trimble, Portfolio Holder for Leisure and Culture, said: “Over the past few years people have flocked to buy plants at the nursery’s occasional open days.  This small shop will cater for year-round demand and will support the work of the nursery.   Our team have a wealth of experience and are looking forward to sharing their skills and advice.”

Woodthorpe Park Plant Shop will open daily from 9am to 3pm.  Plants on sale will include Poinsettia and Cyclamen grown at the nursery, along with a variety of other seasonal plants and shrubs.  More information on www.nottinghamcity.gov.uk/plantshop

There will be a day of Festive Family Fun on Saturday 12 December, from 9.30am to 3.30pm.  Attractions will include craft stalls, Santa and face painting.  Entry is free.
