Nottingham’s young creative talent has been honoured at a spectacular event at the Nottingham Playhouse.

Hundreds of people attended the 9th Nottingham Young Creative Awards, which aim to give people aged 13 to 24 who live, study or work in Nottingham the chance to show off their creative work, network with future employers and gain valuable industry experience and mentoring.

A record number of young creatives submitted their work in 10 different categories this year to meet the 2017 theme of ‘Nottingham, Future City’.
First year New College Nottingham Art & Design student, Isobelle Farrar was named Young Creative of the Year 2017 for her Graphic Design piece. Award-winning local-based artist, Wolfgang Buttress presented Isobelle with her award in front of a packed audience at Nottingham Playhouse.
Isobelle’s winning piece depicts aspects of Nottingham life past and present with future aspirations evident to deal with issues such as homelessness and ecology.
Nigel Cooke, Young Creative Awards Trustee, said: “Isobelle’s graphic style drawing pieces were just amazing, they were thought provoking, emotional and she really deserves to be named Young Creative of the Year 2017. I can see great potential for Isabelle’s work.

“The awards are all about inspiring, supporting and encouraging creativity in the young people of Nottingham. These awards are becoming one of the most exciting events in Nottingham’s creative calendar.
“Every year I am impressed by the creativity and talent of Nottingham young people. We are proud to shine a light on their imagination, skill and dedication.”

All of this year’s winners in each category received a cash prize of £100 and there will also be opportunities for public exhibition of their work, mentoring, support or work experience from local creative businesses. The aim is to open doors for young creative people and match them with businesses who can offer everything from work experience and workshops, to promoting their work through exhibitions and creative networks.
