Britain’s Tara Moore will have to wait another day to play her first ever WTA quarter final after a rain-hit day at the Aegon Open Nottingham.

If Moore is to reach her first WTA final, she will need to win two matches in one day on what will be a feast of tennis on Saturday after inclement weather at the Nottingham Tennis Centre allowed only 43 minutes of play on Friday.

The 23-year-old, who dispatched of eighth seed Christina McHale on Thursday evening, was due to take on China’s Zheng Saisai third on Centre Court. However, the first rain-interruption to hit the tournament ultimately forced the cancellation of all matches.

The Brit is now scheduled second up on Centre Court on Saturday and will follow top seed Karolina Pliskova’s meeting with Ashleigh Barty, which commences at 11.00 BST.

Fourth seed Monica Puig has also had to wait to try and book her place in the last four, as her meeting with Tamira Paszek were also postponed without a ball being struck.

Of the tennis played, America’s Alison Riske powered to a 5-3 lead over Caroline Wozniacki’s conqueror Anett Kontaveit, and was about to serve for the set when play was initially suspended just after 12.45 BST.

It was not until 16.50 BST that play resumed, although that was only for four minutes, in which time they shared the six points.

Anybody holding a Centre Court ticket holder for Friday 10 June 2016  is now eligible for a full refund on the ticket as per the Aegon Open Nottingham WTA rain check policy
