East Midlands Airport is to sponsor a robin for the Hoodwinked sculpture trail. The airport looks forward to unveiling its quirky and unique sculpture design created by Hampshire artist Deven Bhurke – whose work has featured in many other Wild in Art trails up and down the country.
Hoodwinked is a mischievous twist on the tale of Nottingham’s iconic outlaw Robin Hood, who is known around the world. Travellers from far and wide plan to visit the trail of 33 robin sculptures, which will be unveiled in Nottingham on 7 July.
Heidi Barlow, East Midlands Airport’s Head of Marketing, says: “Robin Hood is an international figure and, as the region’s global gateway, we’re delighted to get behind this initiative in Nottingham. We want our local towns and cities to thrive and Hoodwinked is a great way to engage communities and attract more visitors. The airport connects people to destinations worldwide and our support of this unique sculpture trail will help people explore what’s on their doorstep.”
East Midlands Airport welcomes almost five million passengers each year and serves more than 80 leisure and business destinations with airlines including Ryanair, Jet2, Tui, Thomas Cook, bmi regional and Flybe. It connects passengers to Florida, Mexico and New York, as well as favourites closer to home including the Canaries, Spain, Brussels, Berlin and Edinburgh.

Hoodwinked is led by Nottingham City Council in partnership with Wild in Art, a leading creative producer of spectacular free public art events in the UK and beyond through the creation of uniquely-painted sculptures.
