Important maintenance and repair works are to take place at Lace Market Car Park, beginning on Monday 20 April for around six months.

The car park, situated on the corner of Pilcher Gate and Fletcher Gate, requires important structural repairs. which have been planned for some time. However the current Coronavirus pandemic means use of the car park has dropped and will provide contractors with a better opportunity to carry out the works without major disruption to the general public, and without disruption from suppliers of materials to the contractors.

Works will be carried out from 8am-5pm and are intended to be completed before Christmas shopping season begins. Local residents and contract parkers will be informed of the work.

Councillor Adele Williams, Portfolio Holder for Public Transport, said: “The work to start these structural repairs to a major city car park had been in the programme for some time and we are satisfied they can be carried out safely by contractors during this pandemic.

They will be working to Government guidelines on social distancing and following the Government’s safe operating procedures. By doing the works now we will reduce the inconvenience to local people. Keeping our car parks to a good standard is important for those coming to Nottingham to shop, work and visit our fantastic restaurants which we hope to see open again soon.

“I ask any visitors to consider other transport options including our world-class public transport system which will take you into the heart of the Lace Market, our Trinity Square Car Park or one of our many surface car parks or Park and Ride provision .”
