On the weekend of 16-18 June, millions of people across the county will be getting together with neighbours and friends to share food and celebrate all that we have in common.

Nottingham City Council is proud to support the Great Get Together, with numerous events across the city spanning 11-24 June in support of this community cause.

The Great Get Together weekend marks one year since MP Jo Cox was killed. Her husband and friends say Jo lived her life according to the belief that we have more in common than divides us, and in that spirit they are hoping that as many people as possible will mark the anniversary by organising or attending a celebration within our local communities.

This is an excellent opportunity for people to come together with friends, neighbours and strangers for street parties, picnics, barbecues and bake-off competitions. The event can be big or small, indoors or out and will be a part of this big national occasion.

Cllr Toby Neal, portfolio holder for Community and Customer Services said:  “This is an excellent opportunity for communities to come together.

“There are events organised across the city where citizens can get together with neighbours, friends and family to celebrate all that we hold in common, to build new relationships, and create stronger communities.”

Those who want to host a party or find their nearest get-together can sign up here.
