A Give Yourself “The Edge” Skills Show is taking place today for 800 Year 8 and 9 Learners from across Nottingham City.

The aim of the event is to raise aspirations, increase motivation and build awareness of careers in key priority sectors in the D2N2 LEP area, to allow learners to make more informed decisions when choosing their options and learn about the skills and experiences needed to succeed in the world of work.

The Skills Show is being delivered by Aspire in collaboration with the Edge Foundation, an independent charity. It will include local employers who are showcasing their sector through practical, engaging workshops that will inspire young learners.

Aspire, part of Futures Advice, Skills and Employment, is an Education Business Partnership funded by Nottingham City Council.

Employers from the following sectors will be at the event:

Aspire recognises that the future of our economy relies on us inspiring and guiding the workers of tomorrow, today. Aspire brings together Nottingham’s schools and businesses to help prepare young people for the world of work. Primary and secondary school students are offered a programme of activities such as the Skills Show today to help them raise their levels of achievement and aspiration, gain relevant employability skills and develop an understanding of the world of work.
